Team Ashay began at a turning point of Jonathan McClinton's life. After leaving one job when they refused him a raise he had earned he went to work for his former teacher Linda Walkins. The John Hand Clarke House would put Jonathan on a different path.
With the upcoming birth of his daughter he began to search for a powerful name for her. The word "Ashay" would wake him up at night.
"Ashay" is Swahili for, "So let it be."
Team Ashay is made up of creator-owner Jonathan McClinton, co-owner of Ashay brand clothing Robert Shelton, CEO Jamal James and vice-president Kevin Blair.
